Ashley + Jason
New Years Eve Maritime Parc Wedding
Shoe shopping might be every woman’s cardio, but for Ashley, it was much more than that: it actually helped her find the love of her life, which proves that no one should ever underestimate (shoe) shopping again!
Ashley had known Jay for a long time, and when she met him at the Shoe Parlor, his workplace, her mother “innocently” suggested he should date her daughter. She did not have to say it twice because Jay asked Ashley out the following week. Unfortunately, she had a broken elbow that day, but Jay was a true gentleman and cooked dinner himself. They have been together since.
Eventually, Ashley’s memorable shoe shopping spree (or was it Jason’s cooking skills?) lead to the beautiful wedding that I had the pleasure to photograph on New Year’s Eve at the elegant Maritime Parc. The venue is simply charming, providing a unique dining experience and spectacular views of the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty, and the Manhattan skyline.
The day was really cold, and I was totally impressed by these two guys who were real super-troopers enduring the chill in exchange for some great photos.
This was one of the most memorable New Year’s Eve nights of my life. The guests had a blast, enjoying every highlight of the evening, such as a grilled cheese truck (so original!), fireworks, confetti, gold tableclothes, a fantastic band and a very in love couple who beamed with happiness throughout the day.
From their wedding feature on NewJerseyBride.com, Ashley said, "My most favorite part of the night was midnight! Since it was new years eve we just looked at each other and knew this year we were starting our new life together, as we kissed the fireworks started going off from the statue of liberty. Timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The whole wedding went out on the balcony to watch the firework."
Ashley & Jason, thank you for being so willing and able to not only brace the elements for portraits, but also for allowing me to document such a beautiful celebration. Enjoy the photos of their New Year’s Eve wedding above.
