Branford House Wedding

Shooting Bridget and Thomas's wedding in the gothic Branford House Mansion was a lot of fun.

Bridget and Thomas, a radiant and very chic couple, decided to go for a winter wonderland wedding and, even if it was freezing cold outside (think Arctic cold, to get a feel of it), they did not really seem to mind.  They braved the cold in the most elegant way: with sparkle, laughter and lots of love that kept them warm.

As I started shooting Bridget’s getting ready photos, I knew this was going to be a glitzy affair. Surrounded by her charming bridesmaids in floral robes, the bride-to-be was the image of Old Hollywood perfection. With her blonde wavy tresses, channeling a breathtaking beaded lace dress, Bridget seemed to have just stepped out of a black and white movie. To keep things even more interesting, she chose to swap looks from ceremony to reception, and first wear a removable tulle skirt that she later took off for the fun reception, revealing a flattering body-hugging dress.

Apart from all the glitter, the day was a roller coaster of emotions filled with happy tears, especially for Bridget’s dad (watching their father daughter dance photos brings it all to mind again). But there were also lots of smiles, like during the funny speeches delivered by Thomas’s family that made everyone laugh wholeheartedly. One of my favorite moments in the reception was the removal and toss of the garter, with the groom looking utterly confident and the bride…well, slightly embarrassed. I liked that the couple followed this fun wedding tradition giving their guests one more reason to smile and joke.

The Branford House Mansion chosen by Bridget and Thomas for their nuptials is a stunning location on the Connecticut shoreline which created the perfect ambience for a day to remember. With panoramic ocean views, impressive stonework, amazing fireplaces and hand-carved wooden walls and ceilings, this majestic mansion has an old world charm to it that perfectly complemented their wedding.

Bridget and Thomas, thank you for choosing me to document your oh-so sweet wedding!
