Stunning Liberty House Wedding Photos

“The best love story is when you fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time.”

This is exactly how it went for Stefanie and Chris whose wedding, at the gorgeous Liberty House in Jersey City, I had the pleasure to attend and photograph.

They met at the Raccoon Lodge seven summers ago during a relaxed night of work drinks and little did they know then that one day they would become Mr. and Mrs.

Stefanie thought Chris was cute and too nice to meet at a work function. Though it took the shy boy from Ohio a while to open up, there was a magnetic aura to Stefanie that left him wanting to see her again soon.  Thinking they had totally hit it off and she would already hear from him the day after... two months later, they did just that.

The couple started officially dating on New Year’s Eve of 2010 and have been an item ever since. Six springs later, Chris proposed to Stefanie at Mary’s Rock summit (marked with a hike in Shenandoah National Park).

On their big day the couple started off celebrations with a Chinese wedding at Stefanie’s family house.  It was so much fun for everyone. Stefanie sported the same red dress that her mom had worn for her own wedding some decades before and, while she was “hiding” from the groom, Chris and his groomsmen played some hilarious Asian door games.  The guys had to do push-ups and pass seaweed using only their mouths. After the tea ceremony, the party moved to Liberty House. Stefanie changed into a splendid white gown and was ready for their outdoor ceremony overlooking the romantic NYC skyline.

Shooting their first look photos under cherry blossom trees was the wow moment of the day. Alongside her better half, or surrounded by her charming bridesmaids, Stefanie looked gracious in her strapless lace gown holding a fresh bouquet of peonies. Bridal flawlessness.

As she was walking down the aisle together with her parents, Stefanie experienced different emotions (from joy to melancholy to excitement). This, together with the couple’s kiss under the beautifully decorated canopy and the first dance under a dreamy ceiling with tulle draping and fairy lights, are just some of my favorite highlights of the day. And I am truly grateful for that.
